Position Details

The Office of Financial Aid at The University of Tampa has a position available for an Assistant Director who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to advise students and parents on financing their UTampa education. This position reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid Operations.

Assistant Director, Financial Aid Operations

  • Perform monthly reconciliation for federal and state aid programs, including returning funds to its source.

  • Correct, reconcile and return funds for alternative loans.

  • Ensure accuracy and resolve rejects on federal grant and loan records.

  • Oversee awarding of all state aid programs.

  • Submit state reports ensuring deadlines are met (e.g., Disbursement Eligibility Report, submission of funding requests, Student Financial Aid Report, Grade and Hours Report).

  • Ensure full allocation of campus-based aid programs are spent.

  • Write and maintain reports as needed for the financial aid office.

  • Award and review eligibility for ROTC Living Expenses grants.

  • Update annual financial aid publications and Net Price Calculator.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Three to five years of related experience OR a combination of education and work experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and a highly automated financial aid management system (such as Workday) is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, particularly Title IV aid, is preferred.

  • Accounting knowledge helpful.

  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.

  • Some travel required, must have a valid driver's license and vehicle.

  • Availability to work some required evenings, weekends and occasional overnight travel (for events and/or training).

  • Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.

  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer: Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Some evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel are required.
