Job Title: Systems Engineering Manager - Submarines

Working Pattern: 37 hours

Working location: Derby/  Raynesway

We are looking for a Systems Engineering Manager to join and lead our growing Systems Engineering team in the Regeneration Programme. You will report to the Head of Pre-Production who owns all new facilities up to the point of handover to operations.

As a Systems Engineering Manager, you will lead the Systems Engineering team who provide support across the entire Regeneration Programme. You will be responsible for approach to gathering requirements, the management of the DOORS database, and guiding the project in a way to ensure design configuration is maintained. Other details include:

  • Requirements Elicitation
  • Verification and Validation Approach

  • Compliance and Acceptance

What you will be doing:

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:

  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to understand the Needs of the Programme,
  • Utilising the Systems Engineering Toolbox you will elicit a comprehensive set of Requirements across the Regeneration Programme,
  • Work with different engineering functions within the Regeneration Programme to help Define the solution,
  • Manage how compliance and acceptance will be progressively attained through the life of the Regeneration Programme,
  • Through the Systems Engineering Team, Mentor and guide the engineering functions through the Systems Engineering Approach (ie applying the above bullets into each individual project),
  • Providing a detailed set of requirements to the Facility Design Partner to ensure the planned facilities will achieve the original Needs,
  • Act as gatekeeper to ensure the appropriate levels of quality are maintained as the programme progresses,
  • Provide technical direction, mentorship, and guidance to a team of systems

  • Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering,
  • Experience of leading a team,
  • Experience with the application of Systems Engineering skills, specifically requirements management and Verification,
  • Experience with the use of Systems Engineering tools, specifically DOORS,
  • Application of agile development methods to deliver engineering work products (DevOps),
  • Knowledge of other systems engineering (System Architecting, Acceptance, etc),
  • Experience with other Systems Engineering tools, for example Cameo Systems Modeler,
  • Working with external vendors and sub-contractors.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance.  Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.  Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
